What is an Audience Response System (ARS)
|
| An Audience Response System (ARS) is also known as a Group Response System (GRS) or Classroom Performance System (CPS). |
 |
ARS GRS and CPS
is a system of wireless keypads used by a presenter to poll the audience
and get real-time answers to the questions being asked.
Each ARS consists of a base station (or receiver),
a wireless keypad for each participating member, and audience response
system software for capturing, storing and displaying the data collected.
The presenter creates presentation slides
using a computer with built in audience response software. Questions
and several possible answers are displayed on the projector screen.
Then the audience participates by choosing an answer on a corresponding
wireless keypad.
Their answer is immediately sent to a receiver
that's attached to the presenter's computer, and the audience response
software collects and tabulates the results, displaying a graphically
representation of the data within the presentation. |
| |
Depending
on its application, the data can be collected anonymously - for example
when it's used for market research. Or the data can be traced back to
an individual participant - for example when used during classroom testing.
As well, ARS
stores the incoming data in a database, which gives the user a comprehensive
series of reports that can be analyzed further, after the presentation.

The
Benefits of Audience Response Systems... An
Audience Response System is a powerful tool that unlike hand raising
allows users to response anonymously.
ARS has
many applications. It's used to take attendance, grade answers within
large lecture halls, and to capture feedback and opinions during corporate
meetings and market research. Using
ARS allows users to tabulate results faster and more accurately than
traditional tabulation methods. |

ARS
has a variety of potential benefits, including:
-
Improved
attentiveness
-
Increased
knowledge retention
-
Enhanced
learning
-
Poll
anonymity
-
Ability
to track individual responses
-
Ability
to display polling results immediately
-
Faster
decision making
-
Fosters
individual ownership of group decisions
-
Creates
an interactive and fun learning environment
-
Ability
to gather data for reporting and analysis
-
Immediately
confirms audience understanding of key points

Today,
we are seeing a growing trend toward the development of interactive
technology. Consumers gravitate toward technology to interact with one
another as well as the companies they do business with. This is evident
in the high usage of email and text messaging, in the interactive features
on websites, and the development of interactive television. |
| |
When
ARS is combined with PowerCom software, users can capture the thoughts,
suggestions and opinions of their audience in real-time. Then transfer
the data to a PowerPoint presentation, an excel spreadsheet, or a Word
document.
An Audience
Response System with wireless keypads is a powerful cost-effective way
to engage, interact, collaborate and have fun learning. |
 |
Who Can Benefit
from PowerCom?
Most businesses can
benefit from ARS and PowerCom software, as it allows users to gather,
record and analyze the knowledge, interests and opinions of their customers,
employees or shareholders.
When
PowerCom is teamed with Microsoft PowerPoint it creates a powerful way
for a presenter (or facilitator) to interact with his or her audience.
|
 |
In
fact, anytime a group of people gathers to share information, they could
benefit from PowerCom's polling anonymity, its speed of data capture,
and its detailed analysis options.
But even
more powerful is PowerCom's ability to transform a drab presentation
into a fun, engaging and interactive meeting of the minds. |

Widely
adopted for...
PowerCom is a powerful
audience-polling tool. |

The applications for PowerCom are
only limited by your imagination! |
